Ski Lake at Cromwell Bottom

Just a quick question. was anyone from the forum at the layby on Elland Rd near the Ski Lake at around 12am today ? Sue and I drove past and spotted several cars parked up with a quite few people with bins looking over the lake and wondered if we had missed any goodies ? We were unable to stop at the time as we were off to meet someone and when we drove back later no one was insight to ask and we had no bins with us.

Not to my knowledge Paul, I've been out of signal all afternoon but as far as I know nothing special

Hi Nick
Um, there were at least three cars of people and they all seemed to be scanning the lake in one spot through bins. Perhaps the blog fame has spread and they came along after reading Andys report on the swallows :-))

There was nothing of note on the lake early this morning, just a first year Cormorant and 2 LBB Gull.

Had a wander around the 'other' side of the pits today on the spacious pathways and came across 2Little Grebe, 2 Blackcap, at least 7 Chiffchaff & 2 Willow Warbler.

Ho hirundines today which is hardly surprising considering the air temperature.

Just for the record male & female Goldeneye at Ringstone along with Great Crested Grebe.

I think the Willow warblers are our first locally this year unless anyone knows differently. After a maximum of 18 twite at the Midgley feeding station earlier this week a disappointing three today.
