Ogden

Just an hour or so this afternoon at the lower end of the golf course and Stodfold area at the lower end of Hunter Hill.
1 Little Owl
1 Oystercatcher flyover >SW
Several Linnets, Goldfinches and Meadow Pipits
2 House Martins
1 Grey Wagtail flyover >SW
40+ juv Swallows with adults near Stodfold and 20+ juv Pied Wagtails along the very muddy lane leading to Mixenden Reservoir

BTO News mag has an item about surveying for Little Owls, using taped calls!

Maybe someone should tell them you can spot them all day if you've got your eye in.
Or maybe we have a good population compared with Cambridgeshire.

Maybe the beauty of our area Steve is that we have dry stone walls. They seem on the whole to prefer these to trees in our area. We have plenty all over the place in Calderdale with at least 8 pairs + in the Ogden and Wainstalls area.
