Mixenden - Ogden Circular in the Snow

The Halifax Scientific Society's December Ramble (usually planned at short notice) went to see Dave's Great Northern Diver today.

Great views in the bright light! It took to diving later in the afternoon, but we didn't see it surface with anything in its beak. My pictures are poor compared with those already posted.

Below is our bird list. (there was nothing on the res other than the diver and the gulls.)

Some of my easily-photographed, beautiful snow scenes now on the Calderdale-wildlife blog.

Great Northern Diver
Common Gulls
Black-headed Gulls
Woodpigeons (few)
Crows, Jackdaws, Magpies
Robin
Wren
Snipe (7 together)
Meadow Pipits (13 together)
Lapwings (20)
Pied Wagtail
Kestrel

Good to see you got the diver along with Snipe and mipits Steve. Were they in the fields at Stodfold area between the res'r and the golf course, or elsewhere?

The mipits were in the wet fields above Stodfold. The Snipe and Lapwings were flying around.
