Pepper Hill

Took a walk around the sheltered side if the hill looking down into Shibden Valley towards Claremount this afternoon. Despite the drizzle and strong westerly the birds were rewarding and were moving through the gap between Beacon Hill and Claremount and also the gully by the ski slope.
Redwings were moving through in small groups >W - 12,12,15,28,8 plus a few singles = c80
I was surprised to see 12 Swallows moving through in the same direction (5 and 7)
Meadow Pipit 30
Goldfinch c35
Linnet 1
Chaffinch c20
Mistle Thrush 8
Lots of Blackbirds about in the valley
2 Sparrowhawks hunting together over Claremount (probably trying to pick off tired migrants (?)
