Soil Hill - north slope this morning.

Following in DJB's footmarks from this summer I set up the scope for a couple of hours in the hope of some migrants. Not a lot doing but enjoyable just the same. Brisk >NE wind, cool but bright and dry (apart from underfoot !)

6 Skylarks came in from distance to land on the hill
2 Buzzards headed high >E while 2 others were to the north of the watch-point
2 Snipe >E
c30 Swallows >SW
Lots of Meadow Pipits high >SW with lots of others on the top
c50 Goldfinch >E
2 Kestrel
Plenty of gulls in distant fields but a bit too distant for scrutiny.

Brave man up there this morning Dave well done.
That wind was biting!
Looks like East /North East winds for a day or two yet.John
p.s. DJB got a lifer in Brazil this week - his life list would fill a loo roll!

Sounds like a pretty decent Vis-mig total that Dave. Only did a couple of mornings there this time last year due to work but managed a couple of hundred Mipits on those occasions.
That Franklin' Gull has kept me on the edge of my seat here to see if it would fall into Soil Hill airspace

Hope all is well with you Daniel. I checked out your recent lists and photos - mind boggling !
The Franklyn's must still be here somewhere. I've 'dipped' twice so it would be a nice find in Calderdale.
