Broadhead Clough, Sunderland Pasture and Stoodley Pike

Broadhead Clough was dead ! Apart from 1 Great-spotted Woodpecker, 1 Siskin flyover and a Jay. 25+ Speckled Wood butterflies in the clough.

Not much better on the tops for birds but the weather was great, hot and sunny throughout.
1 Lesser Redpoll in Sunderland Pasture and a single Wheatear nearby. Small mixed flock of c25 Meadow Pipits and c30 Linnets.
A few Swallows
1 Weasel
4 Common Hawkers buzzing around the plantation.
Not a raptor anywhere - seems like Kestrels have taken a plunge !

Three sightings of at least two different Kestrels in Walshaw Dean last Friday, 12th August Dave. Surprised myself by walking 14 miles in 9 hours! From Hebden Bridge to the watershed and back with the "Ban the Burn" protest. On this walk and another one recently I've heard a Buzzard calling in the pines just above Gibson Mill.
Not as good a raptor experience as the previous Saturday, on the protest on Ilkley Moor, where we had a Red Kite and a Merlin.
Didn't see any grouse shooters on either walk, and only two Grouse at Blake Dean.
