Down at EGP when at 1415 I glanced left to see a large bird of prey being harassed by a Crow above Park Wood/West Lane Southowram area. Managed to get this one shot before it dropped below my tree line,it could have dropped into the wood, any ideas as my first thought was Buzzard but it looked very heavy and thick set. Ski Lake had 1 Pochard, 6 Tufted, 12 Goosanmder(9M 3F) and 1 juv Gt Crested Grebe.

First thoughts are usualy right but what about the grey headed oddity on the ski ramp, and the Blackcap has been in the garden all day.

Cormorant on the ski ramp

The Raptor is a Buzzard - the sihouette shows the classic shape - and the Cormorant is a very well marked "sinensis" race of the Cormorant that breeds from Holland southwards and eastwards.

I she Blackcap still eating apples? we had one that ate a full apple in a 10 days last winter
