Soil Hill

Just one Black Redstart seen mid morning (NK) but no sign this afternoon unless it/they were hiding away in the cold windy conditions up there !

Just a few thrushes in the fields along Ned Hill - mainly Fieldfare and Mistle Thrush. Also found a dead Wren by the roadside and a Kestrel wing under the overhead wires but no sign of the bird.

I just looked up an old record which I think is probably the only other record we have of 2 Black Redstarts together in Calderdale (?). They were on the old coal seam near the top end of Bradshaw - 18th and 19th August 1978 were the dates I have in my records.
