Short-eared owl

3 SEO's  out hunting  this afternoon in the thick fog and fading light

One made a kill and obligingly landed on a post around 40yrd away, perched  with the vole.

Its a shot I've wanted and its been a long time coming but some better light would've been nice ....... maybe next time! :)

Settings for anyone with an interest, 1/320th, f6.3, ISO 10,000

Hope everyone's had a great Christmas, all the best for the New Year

Phil

Nice one Phil, still sharp even at that low exposure speed and no noise despite being up at 10,000 ISO. What camera and lens were you using.

Thanks chaps

Brian, I use a Nikon D7200 & Sigma 150-600 Contemporary. Its not 'cleaned' up too bad
for ISO 10,000 but the bird does lack detail.

I'm afraid with the light and weather conditions dictating settings at the extreme end, its never going to be one for print, but still, great to see perched up with the vole, cheers

You did really well to get it as good as you did Phil. If that had been in bright light with the sun behind you it would have been a prize winner. Keep up the good work.
