Wainstalls and Castle Carr Road

Full length of the road and return this afternoon. Still very much wintry conditions up there.
1 Common Buzzard distant and at one stage harassed by 3 Ravens
1 Kestrel
2 Mistle Thrush
3 Meadow Pipits
A few Herring Gulls >W
2 Reed Buntings in the bushes by the top lodge at the far end of the road.
Plenty of vocal Red Grouse
No sign of any Little Owls this afternoon - but they will be there somewhere !!

Surprising how much less snow there is there with being just that bit lower than Fly Flatts.
Reed Buntings another bird not over wintering at Fly Flatts.

Yes definitely a good snow line higher up Bri.
There used to be very good winter flock at the top lodge but it's 'gone off'.
I 'toyed' with Swales this aft, didn't get out till nearly 3 pm after doing the chores. Then plumped for Wainstalls so sorry I missed catching up with you.
