The colouring of the pale eggs match the description for Snipe. however they should be smaller. GP 52.1 x 35.5 mm Snipe 39.3 x 28.6 mm (Harrison) Perhaps they are slightly smaller. Egg-dumping in other nests is a habit of some birds. The BTO Nest Records Unit would be interested to see this, and probably know for sure what's happening.
WHAT ARE YOU ALL DOING WALKING OVER NESTING SITES.GOLDEN PLOVERS ARE NOT HAPPY WHEN YOU APPROACH THEIR SITES NEVER MIND STANDING OVER EGGS.IS IT ANY WONDER THE GROUSE DESERTED WHEN YOU WALKING AROUND ITS CLUTCH
Stop disturbing nesting sites. Golden plovers dont like people approaching nesting area never mind standing over eggs. Also no wonder the Grouse deserted when you walking around its nest
Dave Hill is a BTO nest recorder and is son of one of Rochdale's most renowned naturalists. You clearly don't know as much about birds as you would like to think if you believe a bird would desert a clutch so easily.
IF YOUR ALL SO KNOWLEDGABLE. HOW COME YOU DONT KNOW THAT THE 2 BLUE EGGS IN GOLDEN PLOVER NEST ARE GOLDEN PLOVER EGGS THAT HAVE UNDEVELOPED SHELLS. THIS IS QUITE COMMON IN LAPWING EGGS AS WELL.
Copies are available at £6.00 each from the GO local store at Woodlesford, Pellon price . Hopefully they will also be available at the Fox and Goose Hebden Bridge ,

I have seen grouse eggs turn this colour before, when the nest has been deserted...
