White Holme Res'r

No sign of the Purple Sandpiper in poor weather late this morning but there were 2 Pintail, 2 Wigeon and 16 Teal along with 2 Ringed Plover, 2 Dunlin and a Merlin.

There were 5 Ringed Plover and a Merlin at nearby Warland reservoir ( not sure if this is part of your recording area)

Nice one, thanks for these records Simon. Just out of interest and I admit a strange question but are you a vet?

Yes you've rumbled me Nick - I am indeed a vet - but like to think of myself as birder first and vet second! There are a couple of Rochdale birders like myself who do keep an eye on the Blackstone Edge reservoirs - I apologise that I haven't posted for some time as I had forgotten my password, but there have been a few decent birds recently - a Sanderling on Warland on 29th August and a juv Greenshank on White Holme from 29th August to 5th September being the highlights.

Cheers, Simon

Some nice records there Simon, I'm sure our recorder Nick Dawtrey will be pleased to see those on here. The reason I thought you were a vet is that I think you went to Uni with an ex neighbour of ours, Adam Deakin?

Yes that's correct - Adam is a top bloke - he mentioned that one of his neighbours was a birder - small world!
