Pepper Hill

This afternoon we walked around the hill between the ski-slope at Ploughcroft and Claremount - stunning views up there looking over Halifax and the Shibden Valley. 4 Little Owls within 100m of each other must be a family group soon to be dispersing I guess. Another Little Owl facing down into the Shibden Valley. 4 Wheatears in one field. 1 Green Woodpecker. c25 Goldfinch on thistle heads. 1 Sparrowhawk. c60 Starlings (keeping above the hawk)! 1 Kestrel. c15 House Martins and c40 Swallows in the Shibden Valley as well as a good showing of Jays. Also of interest were a few Meadow Pipits still moving SW through the gully at the top of Lee Lane and also through the gap between Claremount and Beacon Hill
