Birding book hunt

I am taking the kids to the States (Georgia and South Carolina) in a couple of weeks, and though it's certainly not a birding holiday, I might just throw in my binoculars......
Could anyone recommend (or better still lend me!) a decent bird book covering the south eastern United States.

The best book is by David Sibley...The North american Bird Guide. Its brilliant I use mine for reference all the time its well worth having your own copy.

Hi Matt you can borrow my National Geographic North American field guide if you like. Its a bit dated but it served me well at Point Pelee Canada in 1995.I suggest you start learning the birds as soon as possible, we found it took a few days to get our eye in. There is a book by Peterson I think that just deals with eastern birds.

I'd Agree with Andy. The sibley Bird Guides Are really good and the pictures well worth a look. My pair available to borrow if you want!

Sibley is a great guide but lacks any text, you really need Advanced Birding by Kaufmann for the really tricky stuff like Flycatchers it served me very well in Texas, California and Arizona.

I have the Peterson guide to Texas which also covers that area that you can borrow
