Lesser Spotted Woodpecker

Same location as Seans photos yesterday.Along with Andy C we observed the male excavating the hole. The female arrived and they flew off to an adjacent tree where copulation occured at 10.10.I left the location at 10.50 with the male back excavating.Noted this morning 1 Swift over heading towards Cooper Bridge.

good to meet you tonight mike what a fantastic find, your very lucky to have them on your doorstep. The male showed about 15mins after you left and again was excavating the nest hole. Hope to see you out and about again soon.

yet more great photos, Mike, to add to Sean's. No butty vans around here, unfortunately !
