Mixenden and Ogden

Mixenden Res'r
1 pair Goldeneye + a few B H and Common Gulls. No Goosander today

Ogden golf course - just one bird - an unidentified lark/bunting on the golf course flew off in the direction of the sun and couldn't get anything on it and heard no call. Most frustrating!

Ogden
2 Teal
1 1st winter Goldeye drake
c80 Mallard, c40 B H Gulls and a few Common Gulls
1 male Kestrel

Jack Snipe from NK on Soil Hill but a lot of excavation work going on with a large digger on the top so wonder what will happen next up there? We will be lucky if it's for the benefit of the birds!

The conservation group had the opportunity to have a say in work going on up there if I remember rightly but the regular birders asked that we didn't get involved. Hope you are wrong Dave and it improves the site as it certainly is a great spot especially in autumn & winter.

The problem up on Soil Hill is that it is all private land other than 2 footpaths through but the owner Mr Greenwood has granted permission to birders to use the hill as much as we wish.
We decided not to get involved with any councils, planners or groups that would pressure him and tell him what to do on his own land otherwise the hill could be closed off altogether leaving us with nothing.
I have been birding up there since the quarry working days some 45 years ago and it has never stopped producing birds yet and I dont believe it ever will.
