Mixenden and Ogden Res'rs

I did check both sites out this afternoon in the hope of something blown in with the gales but couldn't find anything other than the usual Black-headed and Common Gulls.

News from Sands Lane gravel pits near Mirefield (just outside our area) is that the adult Ring-billed Gull was back there this morning (Ref BirdGuides). I think this could be the third winter it has turned up there.

A644 to Mirfield , go straight through town centre, pass town hall on the right and the Memorial Recreation Ground also on the right. Pass Church Lane on your leftand take a right turn On to Steanard Lane (its only about 1.5 km past the town hall) passing The Ship Inn. It's right by the River Calder and the canal. Turn left on to Sands Lane and the lagoons are there either side of the road.
Hope that helps !

Hi Andy
You can make the journey in your lunch hour (just). It was at a distance last year for me and not easy to pick out amongst the other gulls. Other birders pointed it out. - good luck.
