Broadhead Clough

Walked through Broadhead Clough with Andy Huyton this morning looking for Redstart and Flycatchers. Grand sunny morning but only one target species seen, despite the habitat looking ideal.

Spotted Flycatcher
Great Spotted Woodpecker
Green Woodpecker
Nuthatch
Bullfinch
Jay -2
Skylark and Curlew at the top of the clough by Erringden Moor
Grey Wagtail on Cragg Brook

Also had Cuckoo calling and for the benefit of everyone Broadhead Clough is Spring Wood, the area jeff and myself had planned on checking out,(you learn something new everyday).

I was up there the day before Jeff/Andy (it was very quiet) - I have never known it so quiet. This used to be one of our best spots for Redstart and Tree Pipit. I once had Red Squirrel there (1970's!) and Yellow Bunt's were a regular on the right just before you go into the woodland.
