Bird Report - 2007 and 2008

Combined Bird Report
Nick Dawtrey has almost completed the report for the previous 2 years - well done Nick.

However we have been unable to secure sponsorship this year to support the publication and printing of the report, and funds are limited!

If anyone has any ideas on how to keep costs down or secure some sponsorship then please contact Nick direct on Hx 364228
Thank you

What are the costs involved? Can the report not go to print without drawing in some cash is that what we are saying?

I doubt it Andy I thought the bird club fund was quite healthy to be honest but Nick D will be able to tell you.

Could the report be turned into a PDF version and then it is emailable to people who want to have a copy. They then have the option of printing it off if they wish.

Also reduces the amount of postage you have to send out and is relatively environmetally friendly. The only downside is once some one has. Bought it they can pass it on to anyone else they like.

Like Chris says, there is some mileage in having it as a pdf, I'd certainly give serious consideration to that route before diiping into any funds and risk making a loss. If there is wider distribution by file sharing that could work well, set up a paypal account and have the first page asking for a £1 donation- then send the file to everyone you know hoping a percenetage cough up. I'll pay full cost for a file which would be pure profit. It's not as nice as a hard copy but I think this is the way bird reports will go and those that are first there will raise the most money.

If the wish is to produce hard copies I'm happy to get some letters together and approach a few firms but would need to know how much money is required and who has been approached already.

Thanks for the suggestions, the bird report is produced by the "Birdwatchers Club" although in reality it is virtually entirely down to Nick D who does an excellent one man job. I know Nick checks the Blog so hopefully he will be able to respond.

One suggestion Nick D has mentioned is for the Bird Club to buy its own high quality printer and binder and then print reports to order, those that want a hard copy can have one and those that want an electronic version likewise? Unfortunately for some reason Nick can't post on here so anyone who wants to discuss this further will have to make direct contact.
