Sorry if I'm speaking out of place, but the bottom two birds look good for sanderling. The mantle looks quite patterened and there doesn't seem to be a distinctive white wedge in the shoulder.
Yes - fantastic - thanks Daniel, Andy and Nick. I'm sure you are right. I can see the patterning clearly on my camera when I blow the images up. I've never before seen summer sanderling, and didn't even consider it. It seems obvious now. I'm sorry I didn't twig and put the word out.
