Soil Hill Black-tailed Godwits

Photo of this morning eleven Black-tailed Godwits flying north distantly over Ovenden Moor as viewed from Soil Hill. Also male Cuckoo on Ned Hill Track and two Wheatears, one at the bottom of the North Slope and another along the North Slope fence line at the top.

An excellent spring record for this species...I am sure there was a larger flock some years ago over Cromwell Bottom but , this is the best spring record for BTG for many years , a great vis record....Ringstone is a good place to see them locally in August but I think the most in autumn was 10.......must be due Dotterel up there any day now...

Ah found it 60 + flying west on the 10th December 2006 at Cromwell Bottom(DJP) still best spring record for sure..

I estimated the group at elland gp to be 67 but the weather was awful driving rain and windy, they headed low west

Absolutely mega flock. Would love to have seen that.
