Crow Hill Circular late am early pm

Pretty quiet

5 lapwing
c50 starlings
1 pied wagtail
2 swifts
8 swallows
30+ meadow pipits
2 skylarks
2 linnets
plus usual titmice, finches and corvids

Large, small and green veined white butterflies
2 meadow brown
1 small tortoiseshell

Do you have a photo of the Large Tortoiseshell, it's very rare indeed round these parts?

First meadow Browns of the year as well,,,very nice

Charlie, no photo but I've checked my notes and it was a small tortoiseshell. Apologies for the typo. A tatty looking specimen it was too.
It was pretty warm up there and there were lots of flowers in some of the meadows in the area.

Wildflower meadows take some beating at this time of year, they have something for everyone.
