There here

16+ Waxwings found this PM with DJS behind the Fire Station at King Cross. The birds were not bothered about the millions of berries available but were fly catching from the tops of trees instead. DJP joined us and after we left he found 26 birds further towards town opposite Tescos.

DJP also found 12 Waxwings in trees near the Murgatroyd Arms at Skircoat Green this afternoon.

Went looking this morning (Wed) and walked all round the Tesco/fire station/large junction/Wainhouse Tower/People's Park area as well as Manor Heath but none to be seen. Once I got back home a message on the Grapevine said they'd been seen around Gibbet Street! There's always tomorrow.

Jeff,
There was a small group of 6 or so in the trees down Haugh Shaw road at 1pm today - just across the road from the hairdressers. That's about 100m towards Halifax from Tesco. They wouldn't settle for more than a few seconds before flying around.

Up to 50 Waxwings were reported by DJP at the lower end of Gibbet Street around mid-day. NK located 9birds there mid-afternoon but they looked to be heading back towards Tesco!
