Cold Edge

1 female Merlin across Cold Edge Road this afternoon flew down towards Hunter Hill.
Most unusual were 2 separate Great Spotted Woodpeckers - both came down from Fly Flats direction over the moor - 1 landed on a telegraph pole near Moorlands Farm and the other landed on a telegraph pole by the former Withens Pub then flew down towards Ogden.

David, I've seen that before with Great Spotted Woodpecker on a couple of occasions with birds flying up Paul Clough and over the moor towards Fly Flatts, also Green Woodpecker, I've always thought they were dispersing juveniles rather than true migrants
