Jumble Hole/Underbank
Very similar mix to yesterday. - 3 chiffchaff and 1 goldcrest were moving with a mixed tit flock - 2 f. siskin, with others calling unseen - nuthatch calling - male sparrowhawk - 2 grey heron over
Chiff-chaff singing near the Stirk Bridge pub at Sowerby Bridge per Steve Ellement
These are probably chiff-chaffs on passage, but does anyone have any info about the occasional mid-winter Chiffy we see? Are they known to be part of the summer population that fail to migrate, or are they like the winter blackcaps, from a different population?
