Lee Dam and Longfield
Lee Dam
Goosander - 2 females
Teal - 4 (2 pairs)
Canada Goose - 2
Longfield Dam
Black-headed Gull - 15
Lapwing - 3
Also a Kestrel being harried by 2 Crows above Sisley Lane, Mankinholes.
Lapwings seem to be filtering back Jeff. Hope we don't get another long cold spell like December or they will be off back to the coast.
When I go to Hyde to see family, the local winter Lapwings roost in the day on the roof-top of Iceland or Morrisons in the middle of Hyde. They often fly above the town centre when disturbed and are occasionally joined by Golden Plover. I do wonder if they feed at night in the fields (or go to the coast)and roost in the day on the big flat roofs. Has anyone else experienced this anywhere ?
