Anyone like a challenge ??
With thanks to David Crawshaw - a photo taken in Ethiopia recently though it can be seen occasionally in the UK.
Identification challenge !
It certainly challenged me - but I got there eventually.
My first look immediately was - 'a Wheatear' - but it wouldn't fit any of them. The bill was wrong shape and size and the eye much larger than Wheatear and the white leading edge to the primary and the tail and large legs/feet. The wing length looked short, and that's why I initially thought Wheatear. I was pleased when I got it - eventually. See it in the wild and Wheatear would not even come to mind. Learn something every day !
