Colden
An adult cuckoo flew straight through the middle of the Colden school sports day this afternoon. Plus heard from a parent there that they have heard and seen 2/3 whitethroat around the scrub surrounding Heptonstall.
Always nice to get a Cuckoo fly-through! I see from the BTO satellite tracking of adult Cuckoos that most of the tagged birds (14) are already in France, Germany, Italy and Spain with 3 still in England. BTO web site has further details.

This one was heading purposefully south west, and technically won the egg and spoon race.
